Saucony is again marketing to Boston Marathon enthusiasts by releasing limited Boston Marathon edition of its popular performance neutral trainer Kinvara. This time, it is Kinvara 6 that is currently planned to be released to the general public in April. If you are lucky to live in the Boston area, you can go to Marathon Sports on Boylston Street (671 Boylston Street) during its Saucony Boston Kinvara 6 launch party. The party will be held on Monday, April 13 at 7:30 pm in the Boylston store. You can buy a ticket at Marathon Sports website and secure your pair of the limited Boston edition of Kinvara 6. Unfortunately, I will not be able to be there for the party.
If you are not lucky to live there, like me, or you live there but cannot go to the party, don’t worry: You can still get a pair. Just go to the Marathon Sports website and buy a ticket the same way as if you were going to the party. After purchasing a ticket, Marathon Sports will send you an email, saying they will ship the shoes to the address entered during the online checkout if you don’t show up at the party. I don’t know if they will ship it before the party. Just in case they can, I sent them an email indicating I will not be at the party. Let’s see what they say. I may not receive my pair before the marathon. I am OK with that, because Kinvara 5 is just great and I should be fine with K5. Also, as much as I like the crazy fun design of the limited Boston edition, it would not match with my outfit of the marathon day =).
What’s new for Kinvara 6? From what I can gather from online resource, this update is pretty much focused on the upper for better fit. The new open and more breathable mesh design, combined with existing PRO-LOCK lacing system, gives runners more secure mid-foot wrap. The new upper also has adjusted Flexfilm overlays for better fit. Kinvara 5 has been just about perfect, so hopefully this update will not affect the fit for me. More snugly fit will be good but I will not want it to be limiting/restricting. As soon as I get my pair, I will be able to verify the update and share my thoughts.
